This is our BEST steer. I think a lot of Jack! He reminds me so much of Cody's good Crackerjack steer we won lots of banners with.
Also we are offering a really nice horned heifer sired by 240. She's going to be a lot of fun next summer!
County fairs are in full swing. And it's always fun to hear success from our customers!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Alexa Moke and her Lot 5 heifer she purchased in our Pride in the Pasture sale last November. She was selected Champion Hereford Heifer and Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer Overall the Haskell County Fair. They have done an excellent job with her!
Checking in from Tennessee! Yea it's hot.. yah its humid, but I hear home is too. Lol . Kids are having fun. Making new friends and playing, along with competing in about everything going on. Judging and skill a thon yesterday, fitting contest and quiz bowl this afternoon! Wont know results until Friday night on most things. Cattle are taking the trip pretty good and enjoying the hospitality. Both kids made showmanship finals this morning. Proud of both of them for fighting the heat and proving tough. Cody was out there sticking with 17 kids in the final of intermediate drive for a top 10 spot but didn't make the cut. He faded in the end. Kaycee grabbed herself 7th overall in the 8 to 10 year old group! Probably the only 8 year old out there!! Now for a relaxing afternoon and possibly some exploring in the area before show day tomorrow.
Congratulations to our own Cody Brown with Lot 4 from last falls Pride in the Pasture online sale. Slapped Reserve Champion Bred and Owned at the Nebraska Jr Hereford show. She has also been Champion Hereford and 3rd overall at several 2019 Spring shows this year already.
This heifer was looked over in our online sale so Cody kept her and shes lead him to purple! She is a Diana x Miles McKee x 240. Look for more just like her the 1st Wednesday in November! New exciting mating's are looking good!
Regional Gelbvieh show in Beatrice. I didn't get any pictures as I was running keeping kids in cattle. Lol . Cody had Champion cow/calf pair today, her calf Mercy won her division. Kaycee won Res Division with her Fall heifer Violet.. And kids won photography contests! I will share pictures as I get some from show staff. And instead I'll share my favorite picture of the birthday boy!! Hes 13 today.. pray for us we officially have a teenager in the house.
Fun Memorial Day weekend as usual starting off with the Kansas Jr Hereford show, and finishing it up with Kaycee's barrel race in Meriden today. Great family weekend in the books. I didn't get many pictures of the kids showing. But was very proud of them for as little showing and working with the calves we had gotten done this spring. Thanks again for our Kansas Hereford Family for putting on an outstanding show!
Finally got the kids and calves out to a spring show! Beautiful day in Onaga for it! It was typical 1st show for all but Josie Cody's Gelbvieh Balancer heifer. But the kids did well! For as little as we have been able to work with them. Even Kaycee and Marshall her steer grabbed a little purple with Reserve Hereford Steer on there 1st outing!
Cody and Josie were slapped Reserve Gelbvieh heifer in the open show.
Kaycee and Violet were picked Reserve Gelbvieh Heifer in the Jr Show later that day! We forgot to grab Kaycee and Violets picture but found several cool ones of her in the ring getting the handshake ❤
The kids have been putting in long days and hard work with their cattle.
Thanks to everyone that helped us along the way!
A BIG WHOOP WHOOP to Harry Schlickau and Lot #6 from last year's Pride in the Pasture Sale! Snagged Champion Market Beef this year at the Harper County Fair!!! Herefords are making there mark in the industry, for functionality, soundness and feeding ability. Catching judges eyes. This steer was a bit behind in May but has turned it on since! Schlickau's have done an excellent job... and I'm Excited to see him in Hutchinson at the end of September at Kansas Junior Livestock Show.
