2026 Memorial weekend surrreee was one to remember..From KS HS rodeo finals, to Western Regional Show then a fun little BBQ of our own.. after inviting the neighbors with a call to 911..
Kaycee and Logan got it done in the Team Roping in the 2nd round at finals for 5th! These 2 will get it figured out eventually. Kaycee had a little tough time in the Breakaway .. but its coming. Learning to be fast..is a challenge at the next level. Its coming though.
Then a cattle show Saturday and Sunday. The Kansas Gelbvieh Junior kids hosted the Western Regional show in Abilene. Kaycee was Reserve Intermediate showman, Cody and Nebraska were champion Balancer Bull, Red and Stockyards Champion Purebred Cow/Calf Pair. And Kaycees fall heifer Nova won her division in the Bred & Owned show on Sunday.

Monday, Kaycee and I were out checking pastures and crops and after about 2 hrs of here and there the John Deere gator decided to add a little excitement to our weekend! After the fire started it only lasted about 12 minutes!
Unsure of what caused it. But its the 2nd Deere we have lost to fire. Maybe time for a different brand... but no one was hurt or anything bad lost. Just a little bbq added to the weekend.. dont think thats the kind we had in mind though!

What a week/weekend! Kansas High School Rodeo held their state finals in Mulvane starting last Wednesday, and finished up today with their awards banquet, and completed finals paperwork for nationals in July at Lincoln, Nebraska.

Logan and Kaycee ended their year by finally getting it done in the team roping by placing 5th in their final go. Even though they won’t be going to Nationals, so proud they put on an awesome run on their last day, earning them a check and a finals go round prize. Logan had already had his cutting finals during the Lakin rodeo, but picked up a bunch of prizes for the 2 gos and the short go, and wound up the 2025/26 State Champion in cutting!!
